In chapter 4 of The Chaos, we meet an up and coming young band who call themselves "Black Radly." As is explained in the chapter, that is the name of a type of bow in a series of books by Lynn Flewelling. Well, I've been meaning for a few years now to send her an e-mail asking if it was okay to use the name. God, that shows how much of a procrastinator I am, and how much I'm not working on the book. How the hell do I expect to ever accomplish anything, this way? ...But I digress. The point is, I finally got around to it last night, as I was editing chapter 4 a bit, and got to the point where Darius asks the band what they're called. Now, my back-up idea for a name, if I couldn't use Black Radly, was "Atomic Genie." And I dunno if that's been taken, but it should be, cuz it's a cool name. In fact I was thinking of just forgetting about Black Radly without even asking (cuz I was all nervous and stuff). But oh well, maybe I'll use Atomic Genie in some other story. Maybe one of my Star Trek fanfics, or something, I dunno. Where was I? Yes, I got a reply this morning, check it out:

Hi David! I think Black Radly is a great name for a band. Knock yourself out.

Good luck with the writing. Success in our field is 99% sheer stubborness. ;-) Glad to hear you enjoyed the NR books, too. I think you'll like Bone Doll and you'll be glad to hear that the sequel, Hidden Warrior, will be out in July. The cover art should be up on my webpage soon.

Best,
Lynn Flewelling

So... that's cool. Anyway, I guess I gotta get back to editing chapter 4, soon. And if anyone's reading this... you gotta read her Nightrunner books one of these days, seriously. Brilliant stuff. I reviewed them at The Templeton Gate but I'm not very good at reviewing stuff. Well... I guess that's all I can say for now.
